Carnival in Cologne

Carnival is a huge festival that is celebrated by Germans and others all over Germany. Many people compare this German event to that of America's Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Even so, Mardi Gras doesn't even compare to Carnival. The most famous towns or areas that are very well known for Carnival are Cologne, Düsseldorf, Münster, Aachen, and Mainz. These cities are said to have the best and most traditional festivals. However, these cities are not the only ones that celebrate Carnival. Almost all German cities celebrate Carnival, but they aren't as well known. Probably the most famous city with Carnival that people have heard of is Cologne. Carnival in Cologne is an event that has been celebrated since almost the beginning of the city itself. So, to say that Carnival is an integral part of the of Cologne would be an understatement. www.journeymart.com_gifs_holidays-ideas_festivals_cologne-carnival.jpg
